So long Baltimore

Dan and I are parked outside some houses for some internet. We just got to Virginia Beach and damn it is hot. Yesterday was 97 degrees and today is close to that. We have 8 mini propane tanks in the car and every time we return to it we have our fingers crossed that the heat hasn't caused them to explode. I think we'll be fine.

So Baltimore was quite fun. We arrived around 4:00 and walked around downtown for a bit. Dre had just gotten off a 12 hour shift and met us at 7:30 for dinner. She took us out to this nice little place on the water. Later we went back to her place then took a walk to John Hopkins University and checked out the sculpture garden then tossed the frisbee for a bit. Dre made us breakfast in the morning before going off to another 12 hour day of work. We said our goodbyes and headed south. Baltimore is a cool city, they converted a lot of their old power plants into stores. Below is a picture of the Barnes and Noble.

We left Baltimore that morning and headed for Virginia. Dan has a buddy on the Coast Guard and we ended up crashing at the military base for the night. A couple marines came over that night and had some beers. They took one look at us and knew we weren't in the military. The base is in the middle of no where in this tiny town of Virginia. We left around 10:30am and headed East to Virginia Beach. The water was super warm. Tonight we are going to find a place to camp in town and hopefully shower then head to Ashville, NC in the morning. Yeeha.

  1. Hey, I just stumbled upon your blog. You should check out the book 'A Walk Across America' by Peter Jenkins. He spent five years traveling x country, camping and meeting cool people along the way, was also in National Geographic. http://www.peterjenkins.com. He also happens to be my big brother but I amnot bias, the book was on the NYTimes best seller list for months. Check it out, maybe you'll get some good ideas or inspiration. Cheers and safe travels, Abby
