1,200 miles and 5 bags of sunflower seeds later

We are sitting outside a coffee shop in Ashville, NC, grabbing some internet. Yesterday Dan and I left the military base with his buddy Brendan and headed to Virginia Beach. Virginia Beach is known for being very strict. Apparently you can get a ticket for cursing. This is what Dan had to say about that.

After swimming for a bit Brendan headed back and we went searching for a place to camp. We eventually found a state park for only $25 for the night. We stopped by a farm stand and bought some corn for dinner. After setting the tent up we cooked some dinner then collected wood for a fire.

The next morning Dan and I decided to try to get some free breakfast at the nearby hotels. We walked into the first hotel with our suite cases trying to blend in. We were looking for the continental breakfast when the woman at the front desk asked if we needed help. I told her that we were waiting for our parents. She asked me what my last name was and I told her Smith. She looked up the Smith's room and dialed their number and handed me the phone. Luckily no one answered. She then showed me the Smith's itinerary for the day. We left shortly after. We ended up walking into another hotel just as their breakfast was ending. One of the chefs told us to grab all the food we can because they were closing up. We ate yogurt, eggs, cereal, muffins, that sort. If you are looking for a free meal I highly recommend this method.

We left Virginia Beach and drove 7 hours to Asheville, NC. Asheville is a really cool city, about 4 times the size of Ithaca but with the same feel. We found the Mellow Mushroom and ate there for dinner. I got a grilled teryaki tofu sandwich and Dan got a grilled portobello sandwhich. Definitely check this place out if you are in the area.

-Hey Dan here with my first post. The trip is going well. As stated we're in Asheville right now. The Mellow Mushroom had some awesome sandwiches. Virginia Beach was hot and sweaty but the water was perfect. Its a shame the town is such a tourist trap, but I had a great time seeing Brendan and partying with the millitary people. Aside from the rain camping at the state park worked out pretty well. The best part about camping was that two cute girls that had just graduated college took the campsite right across from ours so we made friends with Maddie and Sarah and hung out with them for the night, until the rain made us part ways. Hotel hopping for breakfast was fun and worth it. Free meals. Sitting on a street corner right now and thinking about getting some food with Jesse. Later on were gonna check out some live music and eventually head back to my Aunt's house in the mountains. More on that later. Stay tuned for now.
